The concha bullosa is a pneumatization of the middle nasal turbinate. This is a fairly common variation of normal. The giant form is a rare observation, discovered mainly in medical imaging. It is often discovered during an etiological search for chronic nasal insufficiency or accidentally during a CT scan of the face in cases of craniofacial trauma. The giant concha bullosa does not present specific clinical symptoms and its diagnosis is based on cross-sectional imaging, particularly CT.
It can be unilateral or bilateral, isolated or associated with pneumatization of the other turbinates. Therapeutic abstention is the rule but when it is symptomatic, surgical resection can be considered.
We report a discovery on a craniofacial scan performed after cranioencephalic trauma of bilateral concha bullosa, one of which was giant.
